Editorial Mission:

Cardiology Review (CR) is a clinical journal that translates important research into practical information for cardiologists, related specialists, and primary care practitioners. This research is presented in a three-part format overseen by the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Peter Cohn, MD. In his role, Dr. Cohn regularly reviews the most important peer-reviewed literature worldwide and selects those of greatest importance to CR’s readers. The original authors are asked to update and rewrite their research into a short synopsis article, with the addition of a case report that demonstrates practical treatment points. Each of these paired articles is enhanced with commentary by an expert from our editorial board that is written to expand the practitioners’ understanding of the clinical applications. Readers can earn category 1 CME credits in alternate months of the journal.

Maintaining Certification:

Recognized as internal medicine physicians with a specialty certificate, cardiologists who choose to sustain board certification (those with certificates earned in 1990 or later) are required to commit to the process of Maintenance of Certification (MOC). Cardiology Review is the first publication in this specialty to recognize the need for study materials to support this process. The section “Maintaining Certification in Cardiology” presents questions with fully referenced answers characteristic of the exam modules created by the ABIM. This service has been well received by physicians who wish to maintain their certification as a specialist, and offers potential as a customized supplement for sole sponsorship.

Editorial Features:

• The first element is a condensed and updated discussion of an important study as originally presented in one of cardiology’s research publications.
• The second is a relevant case report that provides concrete examples of clinical situations and appropriate treatment modalities
